Paediatric care

Assessment (2 ½ hours) with provision of programme of exercises to be carried out by family/carers. A paediatric assessment takes place through discussion with parents as well as working directly with the child or young person to ascertain specific skills to work on. It is important that the lifestyle of the family is taken into consideration when working out the programme. This is to ensure that the programme is realistic for the family and child to carry out on a daily basis. The goals will be very specific for each child / young person with the focus always being on greatest level of independence in the future.

3-6 monthly review and update of programme (1 ½ hours)  Progress will be reviewed through discussion with parents and the child/young person. It is particularly important to see whether the programme has been realistic for the family to carry out. Even small achievements are important and will be recognised positively. Exercises will be reviewed and changes made to the programme to reflect progress made.
