soft tissue massage

At Mark Leather Physiotherapy Ltd we provide several massage treatments specifically to suit your needs. This may involve one or more of the following treatments:

  • Holistic Massage
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Sports Massage
  • Deep Friction Massage

These treatment options are often used in conjunction with other physiotherapy interventions to aid relaxation, mobilise soft tissue, relieve pain and reduce stress on the body. Massage has been proven to:

  • Improve circulation
  • Treat general aches and pains
  • Aid concentration
  • Reduce anxiety
  • Promote sleep

Deep tissue massage is less focused on inducing client relaxation, but more aimed at having a therapeutic effect. It focuses on specific areas of soft tissue tightness in order to relieve tension. Myofascial and trigger point release is also a likely outcome of this type of massage.

Deep friction massage is used to predominantly promote/improve breakdown tissue healing, break down scar tissue and adhesions, promote blood flow and improve joint movement. This form of massage may be used to treat ligament sprains, tendon injuries and muscle strains.

A deep tissue sports massage is aimed at eliminating the build-up of lactic acid in order to prevent accumulated stiffness from training or repetitive work. Sports massage can aid muscle recovery, reduce the adverse effects of regular training and prevent injury.
